China has several key shopping periods throughout the year:

Singles' Day (11.11) — the biggest shopping event in China on November 11. Originally a holiday for single people, it has become a massive sale event with huge discounts on major platforms like Alibaba, Taobao, and Tmall.

Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) — usually in January or February, this holiday period comes with major sales and promotions.

"618" (June 18) — a traditional sales event on platforms like JD.com and Tmall.

Major platforms' anniversaries (e.g., March 3 for Xiaomi) — some brands offer exclusive discounts around their foundation dates.

Black Friday (China's version of Black Friday) — although originally a U.S. event, many Chinese online stores now participate in late November.

• Optical devices — military or semi-military binoculars, night-vision equipment, thermal imagers, sighting scopes, and replicas thereof.

• Laser devices — high-power laser pointers, laser sights, and industrial lasers lacking proper labeling.

• Electronic cigarettes and components — vapes, pod systems, e-liquids, and flavorings (especially those lacking certification).

• Unmarked lithium batteries — batteries lacking UN38.3 certification, including power banks with a capacity exceeding 100Wh or those with no specified capacity data.

• EW (Electronic Warfare) systems — any devices designed for signal jamming.

• Radio equipment — walkie-talkies, transceivers, repeaters, and Wi-Fi signal boosters imported without a permit.

• Illegal GPS trackers and listening devices (bugs).

Weapons and Replicas

• All types of weapons: firearms, edged weapons, traumatic, pneumatic.

• Replicas: weapon mock-ups, airsoft replicas without identifying markings.

• Perishable food items — fresh meat, dairy products, prepared meals, and confectionery.

Valuables, cash, and documents

• Jewelry and precious stones — prohibited unless declared.

• Cash, bank cards, and payment instruments.

• Passports, employment record books, driver’s licenses, certificates, and permits.

• Lottery tickets, securities, and crypto wallets.

Other (sensitive or prohibited items)

The minimum calculated weight for air delivery is 0.3 kg. The minimum cost is $4.35. The cost per 1 kg is $14.50.

Important: if the volumetric weight exceeds the physical weight by 1.3 times or more, the formula is used:

(Volumetric weight − Physical weight) ÷ 2 + Physical weight

The formula for calculating volumetric weight:

Length × Width × Height (cm) ÷ 6000

If the volumetric weight does not exceed the physical weight by 1.3 times, the physical weight is taken into account for the calculation.

In China, parcels are not consolidated; instead, they are immediately processed for shipment to Ukraine, ensuring the fastest possible delivery. The minimum chargeable weight for air shipping is 300 g ($4.35). Consolidation is available at the warehouse in Kyiv for deliveries via Nova Poshta. To combine parcels, select "Consolidation in Kyiv" when registering your tracking numbers. Once all your packages have arrived in Ukraine, click "Order delivery."

For shipments that do not exceed the equivalent of €150, no customs duties are charged. If the value of the ordered goods exceeds €150, you will have to pay an additional 10% duty on the excess amount + 20% VAT. Example: Item value — €170 10% duty on the amount exceeding €150: (170 - 150) × 10% = €2 20% VAT on the excess plus the duty: (170 - 150 + 2) × 20% = €4.4 Total payable to the state — €6.4

1. Restrictions on Air Shipping Branded Goods

Ukrainian customs authorities closely monitor goods bearing trademarks that are included in the Customs Register of Intellectual Property Rights Objects. If more than two identical items from the same brand are discovered in your shipment, it may be held for inspection.

You are permitted to import up to two units of any specific item from a single brand—strictly for personal use, not for resale. Please note that each brand may have its own specific terms; you should verify these details with the respective rights holder.

What does this mean in practice?

2 Apple smartphones — allowed.

3 iPhones of the same generation — likely to cause a delay.

1 MacBook + 1 Apple Watch — acceptable.

5 identical watch straps — customs may suspect a commercial intent.

2. Which brands are under special scrutiny?

Almost all major global brands are included in the Customs Register of Intellectual Property Rights Objects. Below is a partial list of categories and examples:

Smartphones, tablets, laptops, accessories: Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, Sony, Lenovo

Clothing, footwear, bags, accessories: Nike, Adidas, Puma, Crocs, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Chanel

3. What is considered "for personal use"?

Your shipment is considered non-commercial if:

it contains up to 2 identical items of the same brand

the shipment is not part of a systematic pattern

the recipient is an individual

it is not paid for by a company or a sole proprietor (business entity)

there are no signs of intent to resell (e.g., large quantities, specific commercial packaging, invoices, etc.)

If any of these conditions are not met, customs authorities may suspend the clearance process.

4. Important: Liability for violations

If, during a customs inspection in China or any transit country, branded goods are discovered in a shipment—regardless of the quantity or the specific brands involved (whether identical items or products from different brands)—customs authorities have the right to seize them, irrespective of the quantity or the trademarks. Seized goods may also be subject to fines and additional disposal costs.

When parcels containing branded goods arrive at Ukrainian customs, the items may be classified as authentic; their value will be assessed accordingly, and customs duties will be applied.
